Soroptimist General Meeting
February 28th. Minutes
Soroptimist General Meeting - February 28, 2006
Meeting opened with an invocation by Martha Gray
and thePledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
Dinner was served.
Our Speaker was G Wayne Dailey who gave aninteresting
Talk on the 3 Roosevelt’s, Teddy, Franklin and Eleanor.
Meeting reconvened at 8 pm.
Corrections to the minutes:Sharon Coil ‘s name was
incorrectMinutes were accepted with corrections.
Treasurer’s report:
It was noted that Member dinners are listed for a 3 month period. (There were 7
paid members listed)The report was filed for audit
A Budget for women honoring women will be presented at the
next meeting.
In regard to Payment to Headquarters for Southern Region
Room at SIA Headquarters in Philadelphia:Our name was not on the list of donors.
We researched the minutes.In July 2005 we made a motion to donate $200 to the
room.Our money was never sent. We are sending the check as soon as possible.
Communications:
We received a Newsletter from the Tampa Club. It was available to be read.
We received aSolicitation Notice for the Memory Walk
sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association
Our Sister club, Nagano, sent us a Christmas card that we
just received.We will try to find their email address and respond more
frequently.
Nancy requests names be given when information is passed to
the club.
We received fromHeadquarters, Improving the Lives of Women
and Girls through Planned Giving.
This is a request for Soroptimism to be remember in your will.
Susan reported on Women Honoring Women. It will be held
on April 1st at the Clearwater Country Club.The charge will be $30
per person.
Menu –Buffet with 3 choices of main course.
$21.98 per person is our cost.

the cost.

Corsages will be for honorees only
Raffle baskets: Ann, Mary Louise & Martha volunteered to
sell tickets at the luncheon.

Service Award Recipient: It was moved by Alice and
seconded by Martha to nameThe Women on the Way Program as our service award
recipient this year.
This Passed unanimously.
The call to Regional conference was presented to
everyone.Terry Sue Requested to be delegate.
Our Betsi Lewis is a candidate for District II director
Our Meeting Place was discusses. Pierce 100 is now
available. Library is reserved including May.Board has moved that the club would
stay at the library through May.No second necessary.This can come back to the
club in July.After discussion the motion passed.
President Paula requested a Nominating Committee to
present a slate of officers at the March meeting.
Mary Louise and Martha volunteered..
Marsha McKenna and guest will be at our next meeting in
March.
It was requested that we honor Bernice Eck in the SALT
column in the SCOUP.
This will be considered further.
Mary Louise volunteered to be hostess in March.
With no more business the meeting adjourned.
